Parental Rights

My wife's cousin has 6 children and she is losing control of one of her daughters and is thinking of sending her to home for troubled teenagers. to avoid this, she has asked my wife and i if we would take her in. she is willing to sign over her parental rights and we are willing to adopt the child. what do we need to do to start the procedure for her to sign over her rights? the child is currently living with us.

You will need to file a petition to adopt the child. An attorney that is familiar with adoptions will be able to assist you.
