Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee
Poligamy grounds for annulment?
The man I married 6 months ago now tells me that he believes in poligamy and is looking for other wives. I know that poligamy is illegal, but he thinks if two people commit themselves before God and have sex then they are married. If I had known this prior to marrying him, I never would have gone through with it. He didn't seem crazy when I married him and we did do it legally. . He's on the Internet personals all the time conversing with other woman on the pretence of being single and he basically ignores me. We have never had a residence together, he moves around from state to state with different jobs living in his travel trailer and I'm living in Tennessee which is my permanant residence. If there are grounds, how would I go about getting the annulment?

Re: Poligamy grounds for annulment?
Even with the awful facts you have metioned, you might not have grounds for annulment. I would need to know more. You might consider filing a "complaint for annulment or divorce" so you have all bases covered in case the court does not allow you an annulment. You certainly have grounds for divorce.

My website at http://jesbeard.com/2a.htm addresses annulment under Tennessee law, but I agree with Mr. Reisman that while you certainly appear to have grounds for divorce, you likely do not have grounds for an annulment.
