Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee
Reduction of alimony after the appeals time limit is over
Is it possible for a judge to overturn an alimony decision after the appeals time has run out, based on the woman's income/living arrangements changing, and also the parties' abilitiy to pay? In this situation, the judge was very one sided, and reduced my income from $800/week, to $600 per month, $200/week being child support. I have since had a child by my present wife, and can't afford to pay this amount of alimony, also my ex has a man living with her, which there is a standing order against.
This judge was determined to give everything to my ex, and did. What are the standard for rehabilitative alimony, as in what is she supposed to use it for or gain from it? Also, could you tell me if there's any chance of requesting a new judge, going higher up based on feeling the prejudice from this judge? When the decision was handed down, I couldn't afford another attorney do I couldn't appeal the decision.
Could you give me a case example of a situation like this, and the finding?

Re: Reduction of alimony after the appeals time limit is over
Under Tennessee law, if a person receiving alimony marries OR has another adult living in their home with them (particularly if a live-in lover), then the alimony is supposed to be ended.
Get yourself an attorney who does a lot of domestic work and go back to court to get it changed.
