Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee
Relocation with child to another state
I have a 19month old born out of wedlock. I currently live in Tenn. an hour away from the father. I am plannin to move to Illinois in which I will be living with my boyfriend (he is moving from Tenn up there also) and his dad in their home. My child's father pays $236 a month and gets her every other weekend. Since when me and my child move it would be with my boyfriend could my child's father stop me? I would have a job making $6.25hr. but I will not be required to pay bills so me working full time would give me enough to support my child. I think she would do fine there but can her dad stop me from moving with her? I would not have a problem setting up visittaion with him because she needs to see her dad so I still want him to see her. I'am not worried and I would not need his child support, I just want them to see each other but I want to move, so can he stop me? I will just be 19 when we would be moving can he say I'm unfit and not allow me to move? Can he get custody of her? What problems will I be facing in the courts eyes? I can't see how he could have custody since he was not in her life the first 10 months and he did not pay child support till she was 14 months. Is it going to be at all possible for me to move?

Re: Relocation with child to another state
Tennessee has a law called the Parental Relocation Act covering such situation. My website addresses the situation at some length at http://jesbeard.com/11.htm
