Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

Representation

Family member is financially unable to pay attorney fees

and is the Defendant in a Divorce case. The response and

addendum to response were submitted and filed by a

relative. The response was to contest. The addendum was

to make the court aware of the Defendant's financial

hardships. Defendant is currently living in FL but the case

is in TN. If the Defendant, for any reason, cannot travel

on the date of hearing will he be in default (what does

that entail) and would a relative be able to be in court

on his behalf with letter of permission from Defendant.

Re: Representation

Only the Defendant and/or the Defendant's attorney can show up for Court. Considering the limited facts, I would recommend your family member either show up in court or get an attorney to handle the hearing.
