Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

spousal support modifications

Mutally agreed upon monthly spousal support was part of divorce proceedings, and finalized 2 yrs ago in TN. Termination of support payments by husband are based upon wife's employment income reaching a specific amount. This amount is increased each year by 2 1/2% (to accomodate cost of living increase).

Husband moved to CA. and is wanting to reduce monthly payments, even though wife's income has not met/exceded agreed upon level.

Can husband modify monthly payments, and if so, does jurisdiction stay in Tennesse, or can he have jurisdiction moved to Ca.?

Re: spousal support modifications

Tennessee retains jurisdiction; the standard for modifications is that a change in circumstances has occurred - you can seek modification if such an event has taken place and it is not a volutnary event (such as moving). If you ahve more specifics please contact again.
