step-father wishes to adopt child with no contact with bio-dad
i have a child from a previous marriage. Ex has a criminal history. would like new husband to adopt child, however we do not want to involve bio-dad as he is dangerous, and are afraid that he will try to sue for visitation. is there a way that new husband can adopt or give his last name to my child without contacting bio-dad? Bio-dad has never seen or met child or attempted to send support.

You have to give the father notice of the hearing to terminate his rights. If the natural father consents to an adoption, he could terminate his rights this way.
