Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

Surnames

Can you have 2 legal surnames, one that is used professionally and one that is used in a social setting. For example, if I had a job and wanted to use my maiden name, but also had children and wanted to sign my married name; is there a way to do this legally?

Re: Surnames

You can have a hyphenated name, or you can use both last names together, but your "legal" name needs to be constant and not change every day or when you go to work or come home from work. At the same time there is nothing which is illegal about using a name other than your legal name when you are in social settings or professionally... but your LEGAL name will remain the same.
