Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

Un-adopting

My sister adopted a child 5 years ago. The child has many problems including "Reactive Attachment Disorder." The child has become violent and is a danger to the remaining children in the home. My sister has explored all options of care, however, the cost is much more than she can handle. She weighed out all options and has decided to terminate the adoption. How would she go about terminating the adoption?

Re: Un-adopting

The adoption was "terminated" as soon as the judge signed the Order of Adoption.

In other words it was "over."

Adoption is not an ongoing process, or something you simply bail out of when it becomes inconvenient, any more than having a natural child is.

What you are suggesting is offensive.

It is no different from a parent deciding their naturally born eight year old child has become a headache so they want to "terminate" the child.

If she can not handle the child she might allow it to go into foster care.... but the child will still be hers, even if no longer in her home.
