Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

Validity of Marriage

I was married 4 years ago in TN by someone who was ordained online. From what I have gathered recently, this is not legal. Is our marriage legitimate? Also, we currently going through the process of a divorce...but if our marriage is not actually legal, could we bring that to the attention of the state? If so, are there consequences for the person who married my wife and I?

You are currently divorcing, meaning (I assume) that you have a lawyer, someone who will know more about the facts than you shared here and who will be paid for his time and opinion; why not ask your attorney instead of posting a question here?
