Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

Visitation

My 3 year old daughter is terrified of her father. She has nightmare and tempertantrums everytime she sees him. He is trying to push for visitation and has even gone to her daycare to see her. Now she screams every time we take her to daycare and fights me the entire time. Is there some way i can stop him from going near her. No physical abuse in the past just emotional. How can I keep him away from her?

Re: Visitation

Don't try. If you do, even for reasons that make sense to you, sometime in the future your daughter will learn that you kept her father out of her life and she will hate you for it.

See if you can get the father to sit down and talk with you calmly about this, or go to mediation to address your concerns -- NOT to try to limit his time with the child but to overcome the problem you describe.

Also keep in mind that if he goes to court in the future and can show that you kept the child away from him and interfered with his relationship with the child, that in and of itself would be grounds for a court to remove the child from you and place the child with him.

Don't do that.
