Maximum allowed time off in 12 month period

If you have cancer, what is the maximum amount of time off allowed by the FMLA, paid or unpaid.

Assuming that the employee otherwise qualifies for leave under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) the maximum amount of leave for any reason is 12 weeks, unpaid in a 12 month period. An employer can elect to provide some or all of that leave as paid leave, but she is not required to do so.
