Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Tennessee

Minimum age to babysit.

I moved into an apartment on the second floor. The lady below us really likes to stir up problems. We keep our 3 children quiet but the lady downstairs tries to get us in trouble every chance she gets. This last time she reported to security 2 nights in a row. One night my wife was there and the children were quiet. The second night the security guard (an off duty police officer) came to the apartment while our 13 yr old babysitter was there. The security guard told her she was not old enough to sit with the children and was asking alot of questions about our jobs. My question is what is the legal minimum age to babysit in Tennessee? If the lady downstairs keeps reporting us for every little thing is there anything that we can do?

Re: Minimum age to babysit.

Parents, as always, should use their best judgment, keeping the babysitter's and the child-or children's maturity level(s) and safety issues in mind. Younger children have a greater need for supervision and care than older children. Obviously, young children under age 10 should not be left without supervision at any time. From what I have found it appears that the bare minimum age to babysit in TN is 12 years old.
