Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Tennessee
After a person dies, how long does the family have to initiate the will? Also, if the beneficiaries say they don't want anything from the estate, can they change their mind later? If so, how long do they have?

There is no statute of limitations to probate a Will in Tennessee. If any beneficiary chooses not to inherit from the estate, a renunciation has to be filed in the probate proceeding. There are time limits on renunciation.
