Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Tennessee
sueing estate
I've been going with a married man for several years. He has been trying to get out of his marriage for years so we can be together. He always ask me not to give up on him.
When we first starting seeing each other I was married. After a few years my husband divorced me and I walked out and left everthing so I could be with this man. My husband did not know about this other man.
The man I have been seeing filed for a divorce from his wife. But, she would not sign the divorce papers. If he left her she would get everthing he has, he could possibly lose his job, and lose his grand kids. She suspected he was seeing someone else but could not prove it. He knew she was seeing someone else, but could not catch her. Actually she was seeing more than one other man.
He promised me we would be together. Now he has liver cancer.
If he dies and I sue for half of his estate do I have a chance of winning? And can she counter sue me.

Re: sueing estate
If he has no will, you have no chance for his estate. If he does have a will, what you get will be determined by a combination of what he left to you and Tennessee statutory law.
