Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Tennessee

Unethical, Illegal, or Neither?

I recently resigned from my management position with a major retail firm. When I turned in my resignation letter, I also left addressed, sealed envelopes to several colleagues. I found out a few days later that these letters were thrown away instead of being handed to the addressees. Is this strictly unethical behavior for which I have no recourse, or is there any illegality to this behavior by the remaining management? The letters contained personal information, but nothing detrimental to the company.

If they were mailed, via U.S. mail, there is a problem. If just left, they can probably do it. For more info, see www.gsmithlawfirm.com
