Legal Question in Insurance Law in Tennessee
Limits on liability for Uninsured Motorist Insurance
My insurance agent assures me that my policy will only pay $50,000 personal injury. My policy states $50,000 per person $100,000 per accident. He also
told me that anything over the Medical bills would be given to me in an annuity account. My medical bills
already are over $35,000. My car was old, so I only
received $3,500. I wanted a safer car because this accident was very devasting to me--8 broken ribs, and
a broken collar bone. Do I need to consult a lawyer?
Or is my agent being honest?

Your injuries entitle you to the full $50,000.00 coverage under uninsured motorist. Any medical payments made to an annuity account would appear to me to lessen the immediate money which you are entitled to receive.

It's not necessarily whether or not your agent is being honest. He is looking at your case from the insurance company's (his employer) perspective. You should consult with an attorney who is competent and experienced with injury and insurance claims immediately if you want to be sure your case has been properly valued from your perspective. Please email or call me (615-790-2575) if you have any questions.

You UM limit is $50,000 per person. Your agent is wrong about the annunity account. You are entitled to $50,000 policy limits especially if you already have $35,000 in medical bills.
I would like to discuss representing you and if need be I will come to your house.
