Legal Question in Insurance Law in Tennessee
I live in Tennessee and recently had a pipe burst in my home and am now dealing with the aftermath of that joyous experience. My insurance company has estimated the cost of repair and has sent me a check to pay for the repairs. My question is: Is that now my money? If I find someone to do the repairs for less than the insurance company estimated, do I get to keep the difference or is the insurance company legally entitled to get the balance of the money back?

Once the insurance company estimates the damage and issues the check, you can do whatever you want with the check.
