Legal Question in Employment Law in Tennessee

Change to working days

I am employed to work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and

Friday at my job. Can they require me to work on

Thursday? This arrangement was made with the understanding with management that this was not

flexible. It has exisited for 2 1/2 years and I am

still under the same management.

Re: Change to working days

Tennessee is generally an employment at-will jurisdiction. For your situation, this means that your employer is more than likely free to alter the terms and conditions of your employment without any recourse to you. There are some exceptions, however, including the existence or creation of an employment contract (it is not necessary that it always be written), employment discrimination or retaliation or workplace harassment. If the situation is severe enough, I would encourage you to consult with an attorney to make sure that none of your rights are being violated.
