commission pay
When hired I was told that my work would be paid by commission.There was no set amount of hours.On one payroll week I missed a day,and my boss deducted pay from my check for that pay period.When asked about it he stated the percentage was based on a 80hr payweek.He then figured out an hourly rate and paid me deducting the day I missed.In our handbook it staes employees are paid prodution NOT hourly.But the funny thing is that he doesn't do it every time I miss.

You are right that pay scheme is illegal. You have a number of remedies. I would be happy to discuss your situation with you.
