Legal Question in Employment Law in Tennessee
Can my employer take away vacation time?
I work for a farmer's cooperative governed by a board of directors. Our policy and procedures states that after one year of service we are given a week's paid vacation. This year the manager decided to take time away based on how many hours we actually worked some of us were absent due to illness, (under a physcian's care) national guard service, jury duty etc. We were not notified of this nor does it state this in our policy and procedures. Is this legal? The person that had 2 weeks of national guard duty got a whole week taken from his vacation time. Is this legal??

In my opinion it is not legal for national guard service or jury duty etc...Some reasons may be legal it depends.
