I am physically unable to do my job; can i be fired in Tennessee due to my illness?

Possibly yes. The ultimate answer depends on how many employees your employer has, what your condition is and whether there is any modification which can be made to your job to enable you to do it.

It is illegal for an employer to terminate a qualified individual with a disability. In order to be qualified, however, you must be able to perform the essential functions of your position with or without a reasonable accommodation. This law is known as the Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA").
