Legal Question in Employment Law in Tennessee

Employment At Will

Is Tennessee an employment at will state. I found info in the un employment benefits laws about having ''just cause for dismissal'' and this is confusing me. I originally thought it was a employment at will state.

Re: Employment At Will

Tennessee is an employment at-will state. However, there are a number of exceptions to this rule. Generally, an employer cannot terminate an employee for a discriminatory or a retaliatory reason. Additionally, an employer cannot terminate an employee for serving on a jury or engaging in other, limited, lawful activites. If you have specific questions about the termination of your employment, I would advise you to consult with an attorney who should be able to more closely analyze your situation.
