Legal Question in Employment Law in Tennessee
I feel I am being unlawfully harassed by my boss at work. She recently learned of a promotion (within the company) that I will be getting a couple of weeks ago and ever since has completed ignored my presence. Yesterday I was suspended for three days unpaid and my holiday pay was taken away from me for Memorial Day. The suspension holds no just cause for what I am being accused of. And the human resource lady is best friends with my boss. I feel I am being targeted because my boss is upset that I am leaving her department.

In Tennessee, it is legal for a private employer to treat you badly because you get promoted, move to a different department or just because you are not liked. It becomes illegal conduct if there is a contract, a union agreement, or if the motivation is really because of your membership in a protected activity or because you engaged in a protected activity.
