Legal Question in Employment Law in Tennessee

non compete agreement

I am currently considering opening my own business due to the fact that I don't agree with the direction that my current employer is going. They are large, in the top 5 in the world in their field. Do you think that they would go after me due to my non compete? Are non competes valid in Tennessee?

Re: non compete agreement

As a general rule, noncompete agreements are valid but disfavored in Tennessee law. There are a number of factors that go into a court's consideration in enforcing a noncompete agreement. For information about these factors, you can visit my website at www.memphisemploymentlawyer.net and click on the link to 'Illegal Employment Practices.'

In most cases a person with a noncompete agreement is best served by spending some time with an attorney to discuss their rights and how to handle their situation. If you would like to schedule a consultation, I can be contacted via email at [email protected].
