Legal Question in Employment Law in Tennessee

Over paid after termination

I recently left my job with a major corporation. Two weeks after I had left, a deposit was made into my bank account. I figured it was my last paycheck, and used it to pay some bills. Now (a month later) I have been told that money was given to me in error, and that I owe the company their money back. Come to find out, the manager never seperated me from the company, thus the additional paycheck. I live paycheck to paycheck, and don't have the money to pay them back for their own mistake. Would $1000 be worth a law suit?? Will they have any recourse?? Any suggestions would be VERY helpful. Thanks!

Re: Over paid after termination

Odds are that they would have recourse against you for the overpayment. Probably your best recourse would be to attempt to work out some type of repayment arrangement. $1000 is usually not going to be worth filing a lawsuit if you are making repayment efforts. If you are ignoring them, it would be a different situation.
