Re: pay after resignation

The answer to your question is contained in your agreement with your employer. It depends upon what it says with regard to your obligation to give notice and the empolyer's obligations. Many times such agreements are one sided in favor of the employer.

Under Tennessee law, absent an agreement otherwise, an employer is not required to give any kind of severence pay. You and your employer could agree to build in a such a requirement for payment in your contract.

You should have an attorney review your contract with your employer and give you an opinion. If the language is clear, that should be something you could handle on your own or a simple letter from the attorney might get quick results if the language of the contract is somewhat ambiguous.
