Sick leave policy

When employed, is it within a companys power to punish you if you use your sick leave in accordance with policy, providing doctors notes? By punish, I mean using it as a guideline in evalutions, or giving ''occurences'' or ''points.''

It depends. There are versions of performance plans with "points" for attendance which are arguably consistent with the Family Medical Leave Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act, but they are very dangerous. It is very easy to violate those laws without a case by case evaluation of leave.
