Legal Question in Employment Law in Tennessee

Terminated-Do I have any recourse?

On 1/14/04 I was fired from the company I have worked for since 7/00.I am 51 yrs old and had every intention of staying w/this company until i reached retirement age. When i asked why they were firing me,the only reason they gave was''We feel its in the best interest of the company and yourself if we just parted ways''.I have never recieved a reprimand either verbal or written.Prior to them firing me, I had been absent w/the flu.I called to let the company know that I was sick.My project manager never returned my call.I had never called in sick since I started work for this company but I believe this is the reason they fired me.I was seen and treated by a doctor and had a written statement to that effect, but they never even asked for it.I am a salaried employee.Do I have any recourse?

It sounds to me that you may have a claim for age discrimination. To give any kind of opinion on the strength of your claim I would need to get more information from you. Please take a look at my website devoted to age discrimination -- www.agerights.com.
