Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Tennessee
Homeowner's rights
My mother died and and left me her home. My brother lives here and I want to put him out. If the home was left to me do I have to let him stay here or can I put him out and sell the home? This is very important to me. He contributes nothing and most of the time he is at his girlfriend's home.

Re: Homeowner's rights
IF YOUR MOTHER LEFT YOU THE HOME AND THE DEED WAS CHANGED TO REFLECT YOU AS THE NEW OWNER, THEN MOST CERTAINLY YOU CAN HAVE HIM EVICTED. YOU OWN THE HOUSE; YOU CAN HAVE WHOEVER YOU WANT IN IT.
