Check your lease. It may contain a clause that says that only you (or anyone else listed in the lease) can stay in the house overnight. Language can vary, but residential leases often have a clause that limits who can live in the house to the people who signed or are identified in the lease document.

With that said, generally a lease does not prohibit you from having guests in your home. Ask the landlord to show you which clause in the lease allows him/her to ask your guests to leave. If he can't show you such a clause, then he has no legal right to request your guests to leave if they are simply in your residence are not causing any kind of public nuisance or otherwise violating a term of your lease document.
