Expected compensation from injury of non-working widow

I live in the state of TN. While on vacation in Florida, I tripped and fell off some unsecure stepping stones at the resort where I own a timeshare. An ambulance was called and I had a broken leg. I flew home to have surgery to repair the bone. The resort filed an accident report and noted that maintence had gone and fixed the stones the next morning. I was told that the company didn't provide liability insurance to cover my medical bills and they refused to pay. My question is, if and when I file a suit against them, will my compensation for pain and suffering be lowered because I am unemployed? I'm 36 years old, a widow, and I have 2 children. I don't work outside the home, so I didn't really have any lost wages. Yet, I've still sat here in this bed for 7 weeks now and had to try to take care of my two small children from a wheelchair. Also, according to any experience anyone has with these types of cases, how much do you expect compensation to be?

Yes you should be compensated for your pain and suffering. As a general rule, you can expect to receive 3-5 times your medical specials. I am willing to talk to you about your case and seek a referral to Florida. However, I would attempt to nego a settlement before having to hire an attorney in Fla. The suit would ultimately have to be filed in Flordia if we cannot settle it.
