hit-n-run accident

involved in auto accident july 12th 1997.attorney had been retained.police department did nothing.lost control of car after being struck from behind.rolled approx.four to five times.hit-run driver had a dealer tag affixed to the car he was driving. the person who hit us has fled the state.i have case documents.ineed advice what i can do next.permanent injuries $75,000 doc.bills.surgery advised.what can i do next.i need closer.attorney was trying to get hit-run diver on friendly terms ,turn edvidence car dealer

The key question here is whether the lawsuit has been filed. In Tennessee cases for personal injury must be filed within one year from the date of the injury.... and July 12, 1997, was more than a year ago.... meaning if the case has not already been filed, you will not be able to sue the other driver, but you might be able to sue the attorney for malpractice.
