Legal Question in Personal Injury in Tennessee

Release of funds in trust

My son was injured in an accident 12 yrs ago. Money was put in trust until he reached age 18. He is now 18 and we are being told we have to hire a lawyer in order for him to receive his money. The Trust department says that we need an Order to Release Funds. Can we do this by ourselves? We do not have $300-$500 to pay an attorney plus the cost of airfare.

Thank you for your help.

Re: Release of funds in trust

Certainly if you know how to do it yourself you can -- there is no requirement that you use an attorney.

Just properly draft a request for the Order and then also draft the Order and submit it to the court for the Judge to sign it.

But why would you need to buy a plane ticket for this?
