Legal Question in Personal Injury in Tennessee

Stolen Documents Email

I have left a former employer because of discrimination but as a notary I took my notarized files with me when I left, as required by law. Thier lawyer is now saying I stole the documents and is sending me e-mails entitled "Stolen Documents" in attemp to harass me and have me give up on my lawsuit against them. My question is, can he defame or slander me by his accusation and by sending me e-mails with the subjet of "Stolen Documents" for all who walk by my computer to see? Since the internet is unsecured and since others can see the e-mail subject header on my computer screen isn't he violating my rights by in a sence making this slanderous accusation on a public unsecured domain?

Re: Stolen Documents Email

The e-mails the lawyer is sending to you are just that -- send to YOU.

If you are so foolish or careless as to let others see them, that is you fault... not the attorney's

There is no defamation or slander when the comments about you are made only in a communication to you.
