Deciding who gets the house

My boyfriend and I own a home together and now we are separating. We both want to keep the house. How do we decide who gets it?? He can't afford it alone but I can. I have a young son who attends the neighborhood school. Therefore I think I should keep it but he won't budge. How can I make him sign it over to me??

The only way to force the sale is through litigation. You cannot just force him to deed it to you. See an attorney concerning a "partition suit".
