Can I teminate my lease due to job transfer with no penalties?

May I terminate my lease without incurring penalties, due to an out-of-town job transfer? My employer has wriiten a letter to my landlord and I have given a thirty day notice. It does not specify one way or another in the lease but the leasing manager is claiming I will still be penalized and be responsible for the entire amount of the duration of the lease.
