Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Tennessee
What are my rights?
I was employed by a contractor overseas, I was sent home for a short break due to stress related illness. I spent the last 2 months of my contract attempting to get back to work without any response from my company. Upon finally contacting the corporate HQ I was told that they were not bringing me back, not renewing my contract and had identified me as non-rehirable, all without explanation. I also did not receive pay due to me. I was told that the reasons were being investigated. This has been 7 months now. I was recently told by a friend in the company that a female accused me of sexual harassment after I left. I can get no answers either way from the company. This cost me not only my last 2 months pay but also my bonus (appr $25000). Also it cost me rehire for another contract which I was told was not going to be a problem when I left the country. What are my rights first of all in finding out reasons for my dismissal and what are my courses of action against the company and this female?

Re: What are my rights?
You have the right to be free from defamation from both your former employer and co-worker. Your options include injuctive relief,(an order from a judge ordering all parties to only tell the truth about you) and money damages.
If you feel that you have been damaged by these statements, you should consult an attorney to plan how to pursue those rights. Keep in mind that every case is different and the particular facts and circumstances in your case must be carefully evaluated by your lawyer to determine whether you have a claim and how to proceed to protect your rights.
