Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Tennessee
What if both immediate supervisors are harrassing you and they own the company?
I work for a small company and the owners are brothers. They have both harrassed me either by e-mail jokes and verbal comments about coming over to their house? What should I do? I am afraid to bring it to their attention as I don't feel I would have a job if I did.

You may also have causes of action directly against the brothers. Most conduct which consitutes sexual harrassment is also covered by other common law torts. Such torts cannot bind the company, but if the brothers own the company, then it really doesn't matter. Keep in mind that federal sexual harrassment laws have minimum employee numbers before the laws apply. The state law requires much less employees.
You should contact a lawyer as soon as possible.

The sexual harassment laws may provide you with some relief in this situation. The doctrine in the law which requires you take complaints of sexual harassment to your supervisor contemplates both that the harasser is not your supervisor and that your company has an effective anti-harassment policy.
As with any situation, it is best to consult with an attorney prior to electing any course of action. I would recommend that you contact an attorney who handles these types of cases extensively. If you would like to contact our office, please do not hesitate to do so.
