Legal Question in Tax Law in Tennessee

Is every one required to pay the income tax?

I want to know if the income tax is required by everyone, and if so, then why is it refered to by the irs as a ''voluntary compliance?'' Which is in fact a contridiction in it's self. and also, if it is a mandatory tax, then why has representatives from the irs testified in the supreme court that there is in fact no law that requires any individual to pay an income tax.

Please do fall for this common scam. The income tax is LAW. The only voluntary portion is that we fill out our own returns rather than the government doing it for us.

Please see my website for this and other scams:

Yes, everyone who earns income has to pay, and no, you shouldn't believe anyone who tries to sell you on any of these "tax protester" arguments.

Best source for debunking these and a whole panoply of other such arguments is a site maintained by Prof. Jim Maule of Villanova Law School. URL is at http://vls.law.vill.edu/prof/maule/taxprotfr.htm and I strongly urge you to stay off the "highway."

Yes, if you earn a certain amount related to or in the United States you must file returns and subjection to deductions, etc, are required to pay taxes. Voluntary Tax Compliance refers to the fact we report our own income and deductions, subject to government review. BE WARNED, Tax Protesters, that who believe that taxes are illegal have been consistently been rejected and subject to heavy penalties and or prison.
