My daughter shafted

My Daughter (who is 30) is married and has twin daughters born april 19,2004 Her paternal grandmother died Feb 28, 2004 She had been unresponsive for at least 6 months with 24 hour care due to her medical condition her only child (a son 56 years old) had power of attorney because her husband had died in 1985 They were in business together a father and son business; the business is on the same property as residence, the grandmother was an active partner until her illness, We do not know if there is a will or not My guestion is If there is a Will how will my daughter know if she is mentioned in it or not If there is not a Will what happens to all her property and especially her personal items ie.; jewelry, clothing, knickknacks, things she had told my daughter she wanted her to have. The deceased was a widow, she had only one child, the father of my daughter,(we have been divorced since 1978,I am only asking about my daughter's rights) he has two children one is my daughter the one mentioned above and a child by his second wife, a daughter who is 18 years old. He has not told my daughter anything and currently they are not communicating, he has never seen his grandchildren and has not devulged any info regarding a will

If there is a will, then the executor should notify all beneficiaries, i.e. probate the will. If your daughter�s grandmother died without a will, than Georgia's intestacy laws would apply. Of course, they are somewhat complicated, but generally the property is divided among the spouse and children.
