Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Tennessee

My father-in law in Tennessee wants to name me as executor for his will.

I live in another state.

None of his children want to be executor.

Are there any restrictions to being an out-of-state non-relative executor?

Is there anything specific he should put in his will regarding an out-of-state, non-relative executor?

There are no restrictions for making a non-resident of TN the executor. The only problem is that you would have to come to TN to appear in probate court and handle the affairs of your father's estate once he dies. Also, he does not need to put anything saying that you live out of state. There only needs to be a sufficient description to identify you as the executor.
