''How to find a will for deceased father''

My father-in-law passed away May 16th. He has a will that was done in 2001. Before he passed he told my husband and several of his own friends, that he had a new will made. We called the attorney that made up his first will and they only had the one from 2001. It is very possible that he could have went to another attorney. Do you have any suggestions on how to track this down? There are probably 100's of attorneys where we live.
