my mother passed away and left a life estate to her husband the house belongs to we 3 children. do we have the legal right to check on the property if someone is living in the house?

The life estate has been left to your stepfather with three
children having the remainder when he dies. You have a
right to make sure the house is not wasting away. Someone
should be living there. You need to contact your stepfather
and inquire as to the status of the house, including homeowners
inusurance being in place. If he is arbitrary, your only recourse
is to file a lawsuit seeking relief from the courts.
