Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Tennessee

My sister in the US was married to a Canadian green card man for 16 years....residing here in the US. He was named heir to his families farm in Canada when his father passed. He (my brother-in-law) passed away a year ago. My sister has a buyer for the farm but Canada is not recognizing her as owner of the property. How should she proceed?

She's going to have to retain counsel in Canada. I recommend that she not delay. If he died while a resident of the US there likely should be an estate probated here in the county of his residence at the time of his death. You might get some value (in Canada) of a US court agreeing as to the marital status at the time of his death.
