Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
My husband and I have been married for 30 years. He now wants a divorce. The house we live in is the house I was living in when we got married. It was given to me by my father. The deed is in my name. Is the house still mine or is it half mine and half my husband's. We live in Texas

In Texas property that you received as a gift is your separate property and is not subject to division by the court. It is possible there are reimbursement issues (for example, if community funds were used to pay the property taxes or for maintenance or other expenses related to the house), but as long as the house was received as a gift (whether the gift was pre-marriage or not), then it is your separate property.
