Legal Question in Disability Law in Texas
disability help
I will be eighteen in June and because of my disability I cannot hold a job. I'm trying to find some other source of money so I can support myself. But I have never held a job other than a Temp job for my high school. So I was told I do not quailify for SSI. What can I do?

Re: disability help
Depending on your disability, you may qualify for SSI benefits as long as your income and assets are below a certain level. This level is determined by the Social Security Administration.
To find out if you qualify for SSI benefits under Social Security regulations, contact the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 or you can contact your local Social Security district office. Try this website also:

A possible scenario would be:
-- you apply and are rejected, you then have a certain number of days to appeal the decision.
-- you appeal and are rejected (you can then request a hearing and I recommend that you hire an attorney to represent you in the hearing) You can also seek representation from legal clinics as well.
