statute of limitations for embezzlement

What is the statute of limitations for embezzlement in Texas? My mother has been trying for almost 10 years to recover funds she beleives are due her after her attorney used her fiduciary trust to pay his taxes and,we discovered recently, to buy real property for back taxes at auction . This occurred in 1998, and the State Bar put him on probation for awhile, but that was it! My mother tried to find an attorney to take the case in civil court, but was not able to because they wanted too much money up front or figured this guy wasn't worth millions, and they ''don't like to eat their own kind.'' She took him to court on her own (she's 85 now and in a nursing home) but was ''gunned down'' in about 15 minutes because she's not a lawyer. I think this was in 2003 or 04 but she still insists that justice be served and has been trying to get the grand jury to indict him based on new evidence from an investigation by the sheriff's department. The investigator said he would present this info to the grand jury, but for some reason not clear to me he didn't show, and my mother about went into orbit! She's really tired of the ''buddy system'' of justice in this county and I don't blame her

but it's all taking a toll on her. Any suggestions?
