Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Texas

bankruptsy laws &child support

The father of my oldest is required to pay support via court ordered. He lives in TX. Recently, I found out he filed for bankruptsy and is behind on payments. The CSU tells me they can not enforce it because he is protected by the laws of bankruptsy. Isnt there some kind of exemption law that excludes court ordered support payments like federal student loans?

Re: bankruptsy laws &child support

Child support is not a dischargeable obligation under the bankruptcy code (section 523), and proceedings to enforce and collect on child support obligations are not stayed by the filing of bankruptcy (section 362).
