Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Texas
cell phone service
I have filed for bankcruptcy back in 2005, and I recently got telephone service. My telephone service provider also provides cellular phone service, but I would have to have a credit check, I really cant afford to buy a cellular phone outright, and with my telephone service provider, I can get the payments split up on each bill. Do I have to get permission from the courts for this, eventhough it is not a major purchase like a car or house? prepaid phones are expensive, and so is the cost of putting minutes on them versus a plan that i can have combined unto one phone bill, and being a single mother of a 5 and 6 year old, I really need a way to be contacted while at work, because I am out of the office on a daily basis. I clean houses for a living.

Re: cell phone service
If the cell phone and land line are used in your business, and if you are ib chapter 13, you do not need permission. However, if you are using these phones for personal use, and if they represent an installmet credit transaction, you must get approval.
